Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this a scam?
No, I have been in the domain business for many years and thought you might like to own your personal name domain.
  • Why are you contacting me?
In our research, your name matched the domain that we thought you would be interested in having.
  • How did you get the domain?
We have been involved in the Internet since the mid 1990’s, our connections and resources allow us access to domain properties like this. We in turn make the effort to contact individuals that might be interested in it.
  • Why would I want my own domain?
Many reasons; for some it is the same as a vanity license plate on a car. For consultants, professionals, real estate agents and such your name is your brand. (actually this is the case for everyone, whether it is obvious or not). With the current turmoil over social media accounts, your own domain protects your ability to say what you think without a third party controlling what you can and can’t say. You can also setup an email account through many of the available services so your email account will be you@yourdomain.com. This kind of thing shows you are a step above the commoners that have those @gmail.com or @yahoo.com accounts. Lifehacker explains it well here and Hubspot shows some great examples.
  • After purchasing will I own the domain?
This is not a super simple question, but in essence yes. In reality, only the registrar owns the domains, then you lease the domain from them. As long as you pay their annual registration fee, you get to keep the domain. We are transferring our rights as the domain holder to you. From this point on, you will have to pay the annual registration fee (for .com domains that is about $10.00 USD)
  • How do you transfer it?
If you already have a domain registry that you work with (like GoDaddy for example), then we will assist you in the transfer process of the domain to your account. If you don’t have an account, we will show you how to set one up first, then transfer domain.  It is a very simple process.
  • Will you setup my website for me?
That is not included in the fee.  We do website design and hosting.  We will have a conversation about what you would like to do with your site and then give you some options on setting up and hosting your website if you want us to. This is completely optional.  A simple resume site would cost about $350.00, a brochure site starts at $2800, and more complicated sites we would give you a fixed cost quote.  Logo design and other options are available from us as well.
  • How long do I have to decide?
Until we transfer the rights to someone else. If the claim page is still up, then most likely the domain is still available for you to claim. We do contact the professionals we can locate with this name to see if they are interested.

  • I still don’t get it, what will I put on it?
Some people use it like a business card, linking to all their social media profiles, some put their CV or resume on the site. Others blog, promote their business or side hustle.   Here are some ideas:
  • What if I change my mind?
If you change your mind before the transfer happens, then we will happily refund your money. After that, sorry, but no refunds, and at the end of your registration subscription, you can let it expire and you will not be responsible for any additional fees.
  • Do you have other names?
    Yes, quite a few actually

  • Who are you?
I put some info together here
